Recently there has been an increase in mobility scooter related accidents. Sky News recently highlighted the need for more safety measures to be put in place for scooter users.
Presently, mobility scooter users are exempt from road traffic rules. Mobility scooter users do not need to take a driving test or have a mobility licence to use a scooter. There is also no legal requirement for insurance although this is highly recommend.
An adjournment debate, titled Mobility Scooters and Road Safety, is being held in the Commons, and in February 2010 UK MPs will hold an inquiry into scooter safety.
Due to the aforementioned Pro Rider Mobility offer scooter training to all of our customers. We ensure that all customers are fully aware of the controls, safe use of the scooter, pavement and road awareness and overall mobility scooter safety.
